CCSD Facilities Master Plan: Building Brighter Futures

For decades, the story of our district was defined by rapid growth. The Clark County School District (CCSD) was one of the fastest-growing districts in the nation, and we stretched our capacity to open new school buildings and hire enough staff to fill them.

Today, the landscape has changed—and our strategy must change with it.

The frantic pace of growth has stabilized as  birth rates have leveled off in Clark County and nationwide. The frantic pace of growth has stabilized. This shift presents us with a historic opportunity: we can pivot from stretching to accommodate our growth to Excellence by Design.

Investing Where it Matters Most

As the fifth-largest district in the nation, CCSD manages 400 buildings.

Our current facilities require $15 billion in modernization and repairs

We have $3.6 billion in available bond funding.

Rather than spreading our limited budget thin across aging, under-utilized facilities, we are taking decisive action to invest in a sustainable facility master plan that ensures every student has access to cutting-edge programs and the specialized support they need to thrive.

Our Vision for the Future

Our community is clear that they want students to have access to modern tools and safe spaces so they can explore their passions. To get there, we must be strategic. The Building Brighter Futures initiative will be our blueprint.

Our community will co-design a plan that will ask:

  • Which buildings are good candidates for the investment of a major renovation, or even a replacement?
  • Which facilities have reached the end of their functional lifespan?
  • How do we reimagine under-utilized school spaces for other critical needs in our community, such as teacher housing or early childhood centers?

Moving Forward Together

We are committed to transparency throughout this process, ensuring that our families and staff provide their feedback and are informed every step of the way.  From late-March through mid-May, community stakeholders across the District will have multiple opportunities to weigh in on the options under consideration through in-person and virtual listening sessions and a districtwide survey.

We are no longer just building for more students; we are building for a brighter future.

CCSD has a vision to become the Destination District for students, families, and educators. Building Brighter Futures is one of the important milestones on the way to “Operation: Destination District.” Other key milestones are:

  • Implementing a 100-Day plan focused on increasing climate and culture
  • Co-designing a five-year strategic plan with our community to transform our schools
  • Engaging in and implementing an efficiency study to direct more dollars to our classrooms
