FAQs

What is the FMP?

The Facility Master Plan (FMP) is part of CCSD’s vision to become a Destination District that students, families, and educators choose because they see what’s possible here. Developed in partnership
with stakeholders and the community, the FMP will guide districtwide facility use and capital investment decisions for the next ïŹve to ten years.

What are the kinds of outcomes being considered?

Outcomes span four areas: facility improvements (repair, expand, consolidate or replace buildings), educational programs (new, magnet, or virtual), portfolio adjustments (feeder patterns and grade reconfiguration), and policy changes (attendance zones and school calendars).

Are school closures part of this?

No decisions have been made yet. We owe it to our students to ensure that public resources are used effectively to provide the best opportunities for students. CCSD doesn’t take school consolidation lightly and only considers this option when there is a clear beneïŹt to students.

What will happen to repurposed buildings?

Conversations are already underway with local municipalities and the county. Ultimately, we will work with the community to decide what works best, ensuring any repurposed building continues to serve the people who live and work in that area.

What is the timeline for the plan?

The FMP is scheduled for completion in Fall 2026.

What is the timeline for implementation?

The FMP will outline projects over the next 5‐10 years. Very few, if any portfolio changes such as grade reconïŹguration or consolidation can happen right away.

Who makes the decisions?

The CCSD Board of School Trustees.

Have decisions already been made?

No. The FMP process is designed to explore options and gather community feedback before any recommendations are made. Draft options are currently available to continue that conversation.

Will community input be considered?

Yes. Community input is a vital part of this process. At the same time, final recommendations will be shaped by real-world constraints; available funding, resources, and external factors. We will weigh community preferences while making decisions that are financially responsible and focused on the best outcomes for students.

What does Trade-Up really mean?

Trade-Up is about making sure every student, no matter where they live, has access to a great school. We recognize that not all of our school buildings offer the same opportunities today. This plan is our commitment to change that, so every family in CCSD has a real choice and every student has what they need to succeed.

What is CannonDesign’s role?

CannonDesign is analyzing CCSD facilities, helping facilitate a planning and engagement process, and will provide the CCSD Board of School Trustees with recommendations for their consideration.
